Powerpoint Presentation Training - How to Choose a Great Course
Are you thinking of taking some Powerpoint presentation training? In my other two articles about Powerpoint presentations, I highlighted some tips to keep in mind when creating and delivering your presentation.
However, you may feel you would benefit from more formalised training in Powerpoint. I’m in favour of a holistic approach to this kind of training. It’s not enough to become familiar with the mechanics of producing slides in Powerpoint. The audience has come to see you, not your slides. Powerpoint is just another tool to enhance your message. You need training in how to capture your listeners’ attention and keep them engaged. This can only be achieved through training in delivery techniques.
When researching good powerpoint presentation training courses, here are some questions to consider:
- What kind of experience does the trainer have?
- How many people will there be in the class?
- Do you have any Powerpoint presentation training slide examples that I can have a look at?
- In addition to practical skills of how to actually use and create slides in Powerpoint, does the course teach you how to get the audience’s attention and maintain it throughout?
- Do you cover the most common mistakes made with Powerpoint?
- Are tips given on how to maximise impact with graphics and images, above and beyond standard clipart?
There are plenty of Powerpoint presentation training courses available. It’s just a matter of finding one that goes beyond just slide production itself. Don’t be afraid to ask the above questions and any others you may think of before committing yourself.
